Sterlight UV Light Water TreatmentWell Water TreatmentIt has been medically proven that 85% of children sicknesses and 65% of adult diseases are derived from water-borne viruses, bacteria, and intestinal protozoa. Poor water quality can lead to hepatitis B, E.coli bacteria, salmonella, tuberculosis, meningitis, typhoid fever, tricomoniasis and cholera. Well water here in Maryland can be contaminated by storm run-off water, faulty sewage systems, or from manure left by animals living in and around lakes and streams. It is important to have your well water tested by an approved lab, especially after the rainy season. Wells with a high coliform count are usually contaminated.Using an ultraviolet light (UV) water treatment system makes good sense and is environmentally safe. The system encloses the UV bulb in a transparent protective sleeve that allows water to pass through a flow chamber where the UV rays are admitted and absorbed into the stream of water. The UV energy is absorbed by the reproductive mechanisms of the bacteria and viruses rearranging their DNA and RNA so that they can no longer reproduce. They are considered dead and are no longer a risk for spreading disease. This form of water treatment does not add chemicals, change the taste, or odor of the water. The bulb should be changed once a year. The system has an alarm that will let you know when the UV bulb is not functioning to it's full capacity and needs to be replaced. ![]()
