The water should be treated with an automatic neutralizer system filled with minerals that naturally contain magnesium carbonates and calcite. They will dissolve into the well water and make it less corrosive. Sometimes this will inadvertently alter the hardness of the water, so it is common to install a neutralizer and softener when treating water. Every five years, the neutralizer should be dumped completely and have fresh minerals added. The media in the system will dissolve over time and requires servicing annually.
