Showering represents approximately 17 percent of residential indoor water use in the United States- more than 1.2 trillion gallons of water consumed each year. WaterSense under the direction of the EPA is in the process of evaluating showerheads based on low water consumption and it's ability to compare with non-water savings fixtures with respect to pressure compensation, spray patterns and water distribution, and effectiveness of showerhead force.
